UCSD Health System’s Department of Emergency Medicine has opened a center in Encinitas for treatment of serious wounds and named Dr. Caesar Anderson as director, the university announced Wednesday.
The Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Healing Center provides treatment for difficult-to-treat wounds resulting from surgery, radiation exposure, diabetes, bone infection, trauma or other causes.
The center also will offer treatments such as bioengineered skin grafting and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which infuses the blood and tissues with high levels of oxygen to enhance the healing process.
Anderson is a graduate of Howard University Medical School and did his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Connecticut. He earned a Master of Public Health degree from Yale School of Public Health and did a fellowship year in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
The center is located at 477 N. El Camino Real, Suite D-204 in Encinitas.
